The short version: we collect very little. Reading KeptList requires no account. If you join the newsletter or contact us, we keep your email to do exactly that. Analytics are aggregate. We never sell or share your personal information, and clicking a retailer link takes you to that retailer’s own privacy rules.
- Your email, if you subscribe to the newsletter
- Your message and email, if you contact us
- Standard technical logs and aggregate analytics
- Sell or share your personal information
- Profile individual readers
- Require accounts or logins to read
Who runs KeptList
KeptList (keptlist.com) is an independent, reader-supported publication operated by Zindo Technologies LLC, a Delaware limited liability company. Editorial responsibility rests with our editor of record, who is also the point of contact for privacy questions and requests.
What we collect
Information you give us. If you subscribe to the newsletter, we collect your email address. If you contact us, we receive your name (if you give it), your email address, and whatever you write. That’s the full list. There are no accounts, logins, or profiles on this site.
Information collected automatically. Like nearly every website, our infrastructure logs basic technical data when you visit: IP address, browser type, pages viewed, and timestamps. We use standard web analytics to understand aggregate traffic, such as which pages are read and roughly where visitors come from. We do not use it to identify individual readers.
How we use it
- To send the newsletter you signed up for, and nothing else. Every issue includes an unsubscribe link that works immediately.
- To reply when you contact us.
- To understand, in aggregate, what content is useful so we can make more of it.
- To keep the site secure and functioning.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing or for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Cookies and affiliate links
This site may set cookies for basic functionality and analytics. Separately, and this is the one that matters most on a review site: when you click a link to a retailer, that retailer or its affiliate network may set a cookie in your browser so the retailer knows the visit came from KeptList. That tracking happens on the retailer’s side and is governed by their privacy policy, not ours. How our affiliate relationships work is explained in our affiliate & AI disclosure. You can block or clear cookies in your browser settings at any time.
Who processes data on our behalf
- Hosting & delivery: our hosting provider and content delivery network handle server logs and security screening.
- Newsletter: if you subscribe, your email address is stored with our email service provider solely to deliver the newsletter.
- Analytics: aggregate usage statistics are processed by standard web analytics tools.
These providers are engaged as service providers and process data only on our instructions. Data is primarily stored on servers in the United States. If you are visiting from outside the US, your information will be transferred to and processed in the US, where privacy laws may differ from those in your country. We choose providers with appropriate safeguards, and we’d rather tell you plainly than bury it.
How long we keep it
Newsletter emails are kept until you unsubscribe, after which they’re removed from the active list. Contact messages are kept as long as needed to resolve the conversation. Technical logs and analytics are retained on our providers’ standard schedules, typically measured in months.
Your privacy rights
Whoever you are and wherever you live, you can ask us to access the personal information we hold about you, correct it, or delete it, and you can withdraw consent to the newsletter simply by unsubscribing. We apply the same standard to every reader rather than only to those the law happens to cover.
California residents (CCPA/CPRA). You have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request its deletion or correction, to obtain a copy of it, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. To be clear: we do not sell or share personal information, and we do not use it for cross-context behavioral advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of. We will never discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.
EU/UK visitors (GDPR). If you are in the EU or UK, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal data, and the right to data portability. Where we rely on consent (for example, the newsletter), you may withdraw it at any time. Our lawful bases are consent for the newsletter and legitimate interests for basic security logging and aggregate analytics. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
To exercise any of these rights, email hello@keptlist.com with “Privacy request” in the subject. We’ll respond within 30 days, and we may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
Children
KeptList is a general-audience site about consumer products and is not directed at children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us theirs, contact us and we’ll delete it.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS, access to subscriber data is limited to the operator, and we collect little precisely so there’s little to lose. No system is perfectly secure, but if a data breach ever presents a real risk to you, we’ll notify affected people and the appropriate authorities as the law requires.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it, and material changes will be noted here in plain language. We won’t quietly expand what we collect.
